Comments:

My husband and I are both retired and are spending a lot of our time finishing out the full basement. We recently sold our acreage, barn, and pond so we only have the upkeep of the house we had built in 1978 and the surrounding yard. We've had a front porch added and deck in the back which greatly changes the appearance of our place. We have 2 grandchildren who are 4 and 9 yrs. old and live in Ok. We recently bought a camper and parked it near Claremore for the purpose of family gatherings nearer our grandchildren.
Our church is an important part of our everyday lives and do enjoy the company of those friends. My other 4 siblings live in close proximity so we keep in close touch.
I would welcome contact with classmates via this messg. center, phone call, or visit to our home.

School Story:

Vocal music was my extra activity during my school years and I continued on with it through my college years. During my last 2 years of college in LeMars, Ia., I was a member of the top 64 member travelling chorale and sang at the World's Fair in Montreal Canada in 1968. We travelled by private buses for 2 weeks to and from Montreal taking in some of the local tourist attractions including Niagara Falls and the exhibits of the Fair.

Hi Barb, Wanted to wish you an early birthday and let you know we've moved to Claremore, Ok. My sister, Gail lives near here and with Dale's Parkinson's, we needed to sell our place so I could have less responsibilities and more doctor assistance. We like it here but Dale is slowly "getting older". HAVE A HAPPY BIRTHDAY WITH MORE HAPPY TRAVELS! Joan

Hi Roger, happy birthday in a few days. We've moved to Claremore, Ok. Mainly to receive housing that's easier for my hubby and me as the caregiver, and medical care with the aid of my sister, Gail and her husb. Wayne to assist in transp. or whatever. He has Parkinson's but it had been the slow to progress kind since 2007. Now has started to show more symptoms lately. Sold everthing except a few pieces of furniture and the clothing we needed soon.Moved into a semi furnished duplex with no steps to climb and no yard work. Take care and let me hear from you. Joan How is Helen?

Hi Renna, Happy, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. I told Ron Johnson about your birthday today and he said to tell you happy birthday. He has talked about coming down here to see us but he doesn't drive much anymore out of town and we would probably drive half to C'ville and he the same: ie: half way from C'ville. Meeting like that wouldn't be hard on either one. Would you be interested in doing that with us to meet up with him. I know it's been a long time since you've heard anything of him.
We're adjusting nicely here and I like it. Dale wasn't so keen on leaving everything he's ever known but he's doing okay really. Enjoy the day and let me hear from you. Joan

Hi Gail: Just wanted you to know we have moved to Claremore, Ok. due to my husb.health issues with Parkinsons. We couldn't keep up with the things around the place and neither our kids or my siblings wanted to buy it so we sold everything and moved into a duplex in Claremore. Sold most everything we had and moved here with a few pickup loads. Did a lot of shredding of papers. My sister, Gail Norton lives near here, while our kids are farther away. I won't be able to keep track of the obituaries any longer; I never did hear back from Janie Sitsler's dtr. about her date of death even though I had called her twice. Keep in touch and take care. Joan

Hi Richard, Happy New Year! Just to let you know, we have moved to Claremore, Ok., have sold our land, machinery, and most furniture, etc. Big changes. Due to my husband's parkinsons, we decided to make big changes since neither of our children live nearby and didn't want to buy the place. As you may remember, my folks bought the place of 80 acres from Cline Road up to the camp at a tax sale in the early 60s. It was so overrun with copperhead snakes, scorpions, and spiders that we children weren't allowed to come out there for about 6 mo. while our Dad got machinery out there to clear the blackjack brush, etc. So it has been hard for me to decide to leave the place. But in Dec. we did.
I won't be able to continue with the "In Memory" section of our class information. I enjoyed keeping in touch and will do so through this avenue but won't be taking the local papers, etc. I never did hear back from Janie Sitsler's dtr. regarding the date of Janie's death.
Take care, Richard

Happy belated birthday, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! All in one wishes to you. I wanted to let you know we've moved, sold everything, and left the area. Living in the Claremore area now. My husband's health is changing and so we made changes also. Starting another chapter in our life's book. I'm letting Gail M. and Dick W. know because I won't be helping to take care of the "In Memory" information any longer. I never did hear back from Janie Sitsler's daughter as to a date of death, etc. Not living in your area or getting the obits. makes it harder to keep it correct. Take care, Sue.

Hi Joyce, have a wonderful birthday with family and friends. I think of you often and the friendship we developed. I think of your brother also and the contribution to our town and society. Miss his contributions. You, your brother, and Riley were brought up right with Christian values. Take care always. Joan

Sorry I missed your birthday, Linda. Hope you had a good one and many more with your family. Drove by your aunt Louella's house, your two gra'ma's and my old house on 10th street. Changes all the time but oh, the memories are still there.

Roger, So glad you posted those memory pictures of grade school and 7th grade. I met you at Whittier when I began the 6th grade with Mr. Grundy. My folks had just moved from McKinley district into Whittier at 5th and Walnut. I didn't like to leave my previous school for the last yr. of grade school and then go into another new school for the 7th grade. But I enjoyed Mr. Grundy as my new teacher. In the latter years of my folks living at 5th and Walnut, your folks became acquainted with my folks regarding some land deal. I was introduced to them and later to your sister Sherri which was my sister's age (Gail). Your sister lives north of us a short ways. She helped him put together a resume years ago. I think they met through a computer class at the college.
Your folks also came into my husband's hearing aid shop and it was there I became more acquainted with them. Fine folks! They were strong people and your Mother was so witty. Now I understand how you were able to withstand your personal family losses. Family is what keeps us together and you've got a good one. Cherish those years. By the way, happy birthday. Can you believe it, we'll soon be 75. I am fortunate to have 1 aunt left from both sides of my family (left in Minnesota). I keep in touch by phone. Due to the virus, I haven't seen them this year. Joan

Here's sending you an early birthday greeting; hope this finds you feeling well and ready to celebrate your birthday with family and friends. Can't have a BIG celebration due to covid 19 but oh, well.
Talking about classic cars, while away at college getting my 4yr. degree, my Dad helped me locate a first car for me; a 1964 Rambler, E stick transmission. This was bought at Romans Chevrolet in Independence for $400 in 1967. Due to the E-stick trans., I suppose no one else wanted to buy it. I had of course, learned to use a clutch and knew how to change a tire so Dad knew I could learn to use the E-stick which I did and left home to go back to college in LeMars, Ia. which was 500 miles. After buying the car, we got the title transf. and ins. purchased and I drove home and then picked up my passenger in Parsons the next day and off we went. My parents had a lot of trust and faith in me and God to send me off like that. But I didn't think anything of it. (no cell phone, etc. then) That was a pretty neat little car!
