Loretta Brown (Kennard)

Loretta Arlene (Brown) Kennard age 76 of Richmond, Texas gained her wings on Sunday November 13, 2022. She was born October 30, 1946 to Mansfield and Iris (Chapman) Brown in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Loretta graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School and attended Coffeyville Community College. April 19, 1971, she married Nathaniel Kennard of Lenapah, Oklahoma and to this union their daughter Courtney La’Ray Kennard was born. They later divorced in 1976.

During her many years of work Loretta was employed at The Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Kansas; Funk Manufacturing; Wal-Mart Coffeyville, Kansas and before retiring was Security Supervisor at John Deere in Coffeyville, Kansas. Loretta also volunteered at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in the Gift Shop and her last volunteer service was at the Schertz Senior Center in Schertz, Texas where she would greet everyone with that special smile and take tickets for lunch and did prayer.

Loretta lived most of her life in Coffeyville Kansas but moved to Cibolo, Texas in 2016 to be with her daughter Courtney and Grandson Jaxson whom she deeply adored. During her time in Cibolo she enjoyed attending the Schertz Senior Center, bible study with her special friends and church ladies and going out to lunch with her friends. Loretta attended Journey Fellowship in Selma, Texas and prior to moving to Texas was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church in Lenepah, Oklahoma where she enjoyed working the in district with her church family.

Among her hobbies she enjoyed working cross word puzzles, attending the Schertz Senior Center, going to the casino with her good friend Pearl Matthews before she passed away and spending time with her grandson Jaxson Walker.

Loretta is survived by her daughter Courtney La’Ray Kennard (Richmond, TX); her sisters Geneva (Brown) Germany of Shreveport, LA; Charlotte (Brown) Cummings of Claremore, OK; Lynda (Brown) Tittle of Wichita, KS and Winifred (Brown) Nash of Nowata, OK. Her Brothers Melvin Brown of Everman, TX; Michael Brown of Claremore, OK and Mitch Brown of Ft. Worth, TX. Her Grandsons Corey Elijah Kennard and Jaxson Javon-Cole Walker both of Richmond, TX. Great Grandson Carter Bromley and Great Granddaughter Kenidi Kennard and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents Mansfield Brown and Iris (Chapman) Brown and brother Maurice Brown.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the Harbor Hospice team, Texas Oncology Team and the many friends and family that have called, texted, sent flowers and prayers to the family during the time of bereavement.

Loretta was a wonderful blessing wherever she went. Although I didn't see her often, it was always good to see her and reminisce. She will be missed but never forgotten. GOD bless her family and friends 💐♥️💐♥️💐
